Michaela Guthrie was placed in foster care at the age of eleven in the state of Alabama. She was placed in the Alabama Baptist Children’s Home for two years while some members of her biological family went through the process to become foster parents. At the age of 13, she moved into their home and lived there throughout high school. While there, she pushed herself to make sure she finished high school and went to college. She attended The University of Alabama and despite having received a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis, she persevered and graduated with a Bachelor and Master in Social Work in just 4 years. She now lives in Atlanta, Georgia, with her husband, Jason, and is the Program Executive of a foster care and adoption program called Christian City Children’s Village Crossroads Program. She plans to continue shaping and improving the lives of many families through her foster and adoption program.
