Leroy spent 5 years in Texas' foster care system.

Leroy is enrolled at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Although he entered foster care at the age of 10, Leroy has risen above numerous feats and is described by those close as a cat always landing on his feet. Leroy is an inspiration speaking out for child and sexual abuse victims and sharing his child welfare story at multiple conferences such as Multidisciplinary Advocacy Training Conference on Child Abuse, TexasBarCLE: Special Education, Child Welfare and the Juvenile Justice System, Texas Department of Family and Protective Services and Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Candlelight Vigil for Child Abuse Prevention. Serving as a Representative for Young Adults Consumers of Mental Health/Substance Abuse and on the HHSC Behavioral Health Advisory Committee, Leroy works towards his goal of becoming a Social Worker and attorney to help others in child welfare system.
