Davina spent 9 years in Texas' foster care system.

At nine years old, Davina's father was sentenced to thirty-five years in prison on charges of intoxicated manslaughter. Her father’s absence led to her life in the foster care system. At the time, Davina's mother was not in the position to care for Davina and her older brother. After nine years of running away, two group homes, and two foster homes, she aged out of care and started her college career. This transition in Davina's life was challenging, confusing and often times intimidating. Davina recently obtained her Bachelors of Social Work from Texas Woman's University. She has been involved in several organizations on and off campus. She has spoke at several conferences, board panels and been involved in numerous activities that involved working with and advocating for Foster Youth.

Davina currently works as a fulltime Youth Care Worker at Cumberland Presbyterian Children's Home in Denton, Texas. She will be attending Texas A&M Commerce in the Fall of 2016 to receive her Masters in Social Work. Davina's overall goal is to get her License in Clinical Social Work with the hopes of one day starting her own NonProfit Organization. She plans to capitalize on speaking engagements and advocate for changes in the Child Welfare System. In her spare time she enjoys playing basketball, working out, volunteering and reading. Davina is a determined, dog loving, outgoing Foster Alumni who beat the statistics that said she wouldn't.
