Seaside, Oregon
Hi! I’m Mindy Bizzell. I live in Seaside, Oregon, and love to read, garden, craft, and cook. It may surprise you, but I am a certified massage therapist, went to bartending school, and lived for two years in Ecuador as a Peace Corps volunteer for 14 months, followed by working at a flower importing web business. I have a passion for the natural world and a desire to be outside in my garden most of the time.
I became interested in this type of work when I saw the job posting and found that it not only worked perfectly with the time I was able to commit, but it also allowed me to get back to service work in a very accessible way, something I have missed doing since my time in the Peace Corps. I feel pride and satisfaction in my work when I’m able to positively impact my workplace with the work I’m able to do and the projects I’m able to support. Through my work at FosterClub, I hope to gain a better understanding of the foster care system and the people living in it and impacted by it. I hope my work here, however small, is able to support real system change.
Mindy graduated from Hollins University in Roanoke, VA, with degrees in Classics and English. Prior to working at FosterClub, her most notable roles were mother, wife, chauffeur, and business owner. Her other achievements include her children, her freelance writing career, and her interior design work.
