Wilner Twedt spent 5 years in Minnesota's Foster Care System

Wilner Twedt serves as a leader in his community in many areas despite still being in high school. He currently serves as editor and writer for his school paper and yearbook, and is involved in football and baseball where he has demonstrated a great capacity for teamwork.

Wilner is involved in Our Own Words, a foster youth advisory council in Minnesota and volunteers as an usher at his church. He has shared his passion for faith through several mission trips, and by participating in his church’s worship team. The Lead Pastor at Wilner’s church states, “Wilner has shown a willingness to step out of his comfort zone and volunteer to serve in many different situations. He is a hard worker. Other people tend to follow him. One of his greatest strengths is his ability to reach out to people who are different than him and show acceptance and love.”

The empathy and humility Wilner has demonstrated make him a natural leader and a wonderful representative of the foster care community. Eighteen-year-old Wilner will be graduating this year and plans to attend MidAmerica Nazarene University in Kansas where he will double major in graphic design and computer science.
