Willie Taylor, 19, spent one year in Michigan’s foster care system.

Willie experienced multiple residential group homes until one day he was adopted. Willie earned an award for advocating and sharing his lived experience in foster care to other foster youth. During winter he volunteers to shovel snow for elders in his community and talks to current and transition-aged foster youth at a local organization for children.

In his free time, Willie likes to play basketball, read, and draw. He also enjoys working with children and animals.

Willie plans to go to a trade school for the auto industry after he finishes high school. He aims to start his own auto shop in his future.
