Tammy is an emancipated foster youth from Northern California who entered the foster care system at age 9. She was in 20 placements between the age of 9 and 18. Tammy aspires to attend college and is considering a career in law. Always a strong advocate for youth rights, she believes a law degree will further her goals in advocacy for foster children. Tammy is currently employed as a Youth Coordinator, recently promoted from Youth Advocate. She is housed at the local child welfare services and children’s mental health office and works side by side with Master’s level staff. She is learning a tremendous amount about the system and its impact on children. She loves her job and is a fierce advocate for the rights of foster youth. Tammy is motivated, smart, articulate, a wonderful mother, and a foster kid.
