She/Her

7 years in care

Sofie has dedicated her life to advocating for vulnerable populations, drawing from her personal experiences as a foster youth in Oregon for seven years. Currently serving as a Policy Entrepreneur with Next 100, she focuses on creating dignified transitions for young adults aging out of foster care or experiencing homelessness. Sofie has worked with organizations like Project Never Again to eliminate the use of trash bags as luggage for foster youth and served on the council for Project Lemonade, providing clothing to young people in the system. Her commitment to mental health awareness, particularly among Black adolescents, is evident in her leadership of a statewide suicide prevention coalition. With plans to pursue graduate studies in International Development or Law, Sofie is determined to drive systemic change and ensure that future generations do not endure the same traumas she faced.
