Sharanda entered Arkansas's foster care system shortly after her sixteenth birthday. She experienced eight different placements, mostly centers and group homes, during her search for permanency until she began to live independently. Since living on her own, Sharanda has been working to build a bright future for herself. She is a sophomore at Arkansas State University and is majoring in Political Science. She also spends a large portion of her time volunteering and doing community involvement through numerous organizations she is apart of, including the Arkansas Youth Advisory Board and the ASU chapter of the National Residence Hall Honorary. She plans to go to graduate school and join the United States Marine Corps before she enters the exciting world of politics to try and achieve her ultimate dream, which is to become the first female President of the United States of America. Sharanda is a cartoonist, activist, volunteer, a friend to everyone... and a foster kid.
