Raven spent 13 years in Oregon’s foster care system. Her experience in care was difficult. She moved 19 times, with periods of homelessness in between some later placements. She reports many losses during these years.

Raven has worked with Oregon Foster Youth Connection since 2014, She is especially proud of the Sibling Bill of Rights. She spent over 500 hours on it and it was an issue close to her heart. She has also participated in policy events to make a change within the foster care system.

In spite of the instability, Raven graduated from high school. In recognition of the positive impact her teachers have had on her life, she looks forward to becoming an elementary teacher. In the future, she would also like to travel.

“The system is broken I am a part of something big to make a change so others don’t have to go through what I went through. Be the change for others and the voice for those who are scared to speak up”
