Maryana spent 3 years in Pennsylvania's foster care system.
While Maryana was in care she struggled with reunification and currently advocates for creating healthy relationships and maintaining appropriate boundaries between families. She is a sophomore at Duquesne University and is getting a dual-degree in history and 7-12 social studies education. Freshman year, Maryana achieved Dean’s List, National Honors Society, and was in the Director’s Circle. She also volunteered at Strong Women Strong Girls, Duquesne University Student Education Association, Pittsburgh Association for the Education of Young Children, and the Leading Teacher Program in Urban Education.
Maryana is intelligent, compassionate, talkative, and a foster youth.
