5 years in Montana’s foster care system

He/Him/His

Lester is from Great Falls, Montana. He entered into care at the age of 13 years old, he has had 8 placements mostly foster homes and a kinship/relative placement throughout those years.

Lester says the hardest thing he has overcome - is knowing who he is and where he feels like he belongs. In his free time, he loves to ski, skate, read, and play video games. When he is not doing either of those things he is with friends or family. Lester uses music to cope with stress, preferably pop music.

One of the things that kept Lester pushing forward with his Junior Roller Derby Team! They travel all over the state of Montana and often head into Canada for events. His team holds fundraisers around the community to support organizations such as St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, Scottish Rite organization, and little things like volunteering at food markets and skating laps around the local park for donations to better the community.

Lester graduated high school in May 2019, and plans on attending college within the next year to attain a B.A. in business. He hopes to become a Certified Public Accountant and own an accounting firm.

Lester believes that there is so much more he will gain from his experience here in Seaside Oregon. He can’t wait to take what he learned and impact his community in a more assertive way. He also says that his experience with the foster care system has shaped him into the caring, loving, and passionate leader he is today.
