Krista aged out of the foster care system in Iowa at the age 18 in 2006. She was in foster care twice (from age 3-8 and 12-18) and was adopted twice, once as an adult. She went to the University of Iowa and now works with youth who have aged out of foster care as a mentor. She also does trainings to help the community understand the importance of their involvement with foster youths' lives. Krista thinks of herself as a "political geek" and loves being involved with campaigns. Her television is always set on CNN. In the future, she wants to continue her advocacy for youth with more of an emphasis on governmental policy change and best practice. Krista is a violinist, swimmer, loves singing randomly, and a foster youth.
