Kreeoshia Burks-Moore spent 5 years in Colorado's Foster Care System.

Kree was placed in foster care at the age of 13 . She has been in 3 placements including 2 foster homes and 1 kinship placement. Kree has overcome many obstacles in her life. Despite these obstacles Kree is very determined to make a difference in her life, in the foster care system and in the lives of other youth. She became a member of the CASA Legacy Project and also joined the state Colorado Youth Leadership Team in early 2010 where she is an active member. Kree is active in coordinating events, planning events and authoring our By-Laws. She has also volunteered to assist families in need at the Denver Feed A Family where she has prepared over 9,000 family food baskets — and counting! Kree is a full time student at Arapahoe Community College where she is pursuing a career in education. Kree works hard at maintaining her independence. She has been living out on her own for nearly a year. Between working 2 jobs, attending college full time, and interning with Yes! Academy, Kree remains active in advocating for changes in the foster care system. She was selected as a Youth Leader for the 2010 Chafee Teen Conference and selected to attend the National Independent Living Conference in Washington D.C. .
