Kady Titus has clear goals related to her future work in child welfare and is well on the path to achieving them. Kady is pursuing her Bachelor’s degree with a double major in Political Science and Social Work. After getting her Master’s in Social Work, Kady plans to create a groundbreaking Transitional Living Program for youth in Alaska that builds on community supports for youth in care, with a particular concentration on Native youth. Kady has dedicated the past eight years of her life to mentoring at-risk youth and has worked in advocacy through the Northwest Network for Youth, and also as a youth counselor for youth at a residential facility. I loved the way Kady described the responsibility of alumnus to pass down their knowledge to younger generations. “As a foster care alumnus I believe it is my responsibility to pass down what I have learned to others who are still in care, just like a traditional family passes down their knowledge”. Kady is an Orphan Foundation of America Scholars. As a fellow OFA scholar, I am proud to consider her part of my OFA family.
