“I think former foster youth could become available as role models and/or mentors and provide hope through sharing our backstories. I truly believe I could have benefitted from that, rather than learn the hard way.”

Josh has found many opportunities to share his foster care story, including participating in a speakers series, in outreach videos, and sharing his insights in the media. He volunteers with multiple nonprofits that support foster youth advocacy, and is finding ways to make change happen in the foster care system.

Josh just graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in business, and plans to soon start graduate school to work toward a Master’s degree. He hopes to one day start his own business and give back to the foster youth community.

While he was lucky to find supportive adults to help him make his educational goals a reality, Josh feels that the foster care system has a long way to go to provide young people with a consistent environment and reassurance that it is there to support them as they grow and prosper.
