Jahvern spent 8 years in the foster care system, and says he is the person he is today because of it. “I truly believe that part of my life was just a stepping stone and a learning experience. It’s helped get me where I am today and it will not be forgotten.” Jahvern is a member of the Color of Words production team, and a member of the Connecticut Youth Alliance.
Through Color of Words Jahvern has been able to express himself creatively, and through the Connecticut Youth Alliance he has been able to come up with ideas that improve the quality of life for youth in care. Jahvern is a sports fan, and visits the gym five days a week. He loves to express himself through creative channels. “Aside from working with digital media, I am also an audio producer. I love making music and writing poetry. I have published poetry in The Celebration of Young Poets two different years. Nothing brings me more joy than being able to express myself creatively through music and poetry; I find it to be extremely therapeutic.”
