Iberia Zafira spent 2 1/2 years in California's Foster Care System.

Iberia went into foster care at age 15 due to abuse at home. Although times have been tough due to family and financial instability, she is very thankful for the positive influences and opportunities in her life, especially people who have supported her pursuit of higher education. Iberia currently attends Stanford University where she is a B.S. candidate in Earth Systems. She works as an intern for the Stanford Graduate School of Business at the Center for Social Innovation and as a graphic designer for the Stanford Organizing Committee for the Arts. She has extensive and varied experiences including: inspiring first-generation/low-income youth of color towards higher education through mentoring and college visits, designing branding for a campus art + sustainability festival, volunteering/rainforest photography in Costa Rica, and writing a social-entrepreneurship curriculum for at-risk youth. In her spare time Iberia likes to give back, travel, learn languages, design, and meet new people. Next year she will be living one of her dreams by studying in France. After graduation, she hopes to do a Fulbright, a Master's, and JD/MBA in order to found a company rooted in altruism.
