She/her/hers

Hailie Sanders is a student at the University of Arizona, where she also works as a peer mentor for Fostering Success. In this role, Hailie provides mentorship, emotional support, and basic needs items to students who have experienced homelessness, housing insecurity, or foster care. She currently boasts a 4.0 GPA, and has spent the last several months studying tirelessly for the LSAT. She hopes to be accepted at Stanford or another top-tier law school after she completes her Bachelor’s degree in 2024. Hailie plans on becoming a criminal defense attorney, and hopes to engage in pro bono work with an organization such as the Innocence Project.

As a volunteer with Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), Hailie monitored and followed court proceedings to ensure that proper sentences were given, and advocated for the victims of drunk and impaired driving. She also attended and organized Victim Impact Panels, where victims were able to share their stories with drunk driving offenders. She has also volunteered and fundraised for the Emerge! Center Against Domestic Violence in Tucson.

Hailie spent seven years in foster care. While her time in foster care was stressful, Hailie believes that it helped her to become the independent, self-sustaining young adult she is today. She taught herself to cook, to clean, to manage her finances, and to take care of herself. Hailie has a deep desire to continue learning and growing, both professionally and personally. She is passionate about her education and excited to achieve her goals of attending law school and becoming an attorney.
