Gina Cabiddu spent 6 years in Washington's foster care system.

Gina spent 6 years in the Washington state foster care system, after which she enrolled at University of Washington, Tacoma where she currently holds an impressive 3.9 GPA. Only 20 years old, she is expecting to graduate with her bachelor’s degree in social welfare in June 2015. Afterwards she plans to earn her Masters in social work from University of Washington, Tacoma in an accelerated 15-month program which typically takes 3 years.

Miss Cabiddu volunteers for many events at her local community center. She was also elected to serve on the board of the Student social Worker Organization at the University of Washington Tacoma as Event Coordinator. She is involved with the Mockingbird Society which aims to better the foster system by implementing policy reform at a legislative level.

Gina also has artistic talents and has won awards for both her art, and photography skills and has published writing. She made Dean’s list and President’s list each quarter with her exemplary grades and was inducted to the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. No doubt, this young woman is intelligent, kind-hearted, and ready to do good for this world. In the near future, Miss Gina plans to work with foster youth and adopted children as a social worker, hoping to work with the Children’s Administration or Child Protective Services.
