George entered foster care at the age of 16 and struggled academically. Now, nearly 18, he loves school, does well in his classes and has recently reconnected with his family. George recently applied for and has been accepted to work as a Planned Parenthood peer educator at the Achieving Independence Center (AIC). At the AIC he is also involved in the Center's Mural Arts program--a Philadelphia-based program that allows young people to express themselves. George likes to spend his free time away from his group home playing sports and creating art. He likes socializing with friends both in and out of his group home and enjoys helping them reach their full potential. George is seen as a mentor to his peers and hopes that, through hard work, he and his friends will move on to bigger and better things including careers in teaching, art, and music.
