2 years in care

Dejah Carlock is a nonprofit leader, community advocate, and graduate student pursuing a Master’s in Nonprofit Management and Leadership. Her work focuses on supporting young people and families through leadership development, resource connection, and systems awareness.
She leads the ALICE Youth Leadership Coalition in Central Arkansas, where she engages youth in exploring community issues, leadership, and policy while identifying resources that support working families. Through this work, young people participate in initiatives such as community asset mapping and discussions on how systems impact their lives.
Dejah’s advocacy is shaped by her experience growing up in kinship care, where her grandparents raised her. This perspective drives her commitment to strengthening support for kinship caregivers and improving outcomes for youth connected to child welfare.
Through youth engagement, philanthropy, and community leadership, Dejah works to build systems that are more responsive, supportive, and grounded in the real experiences of families.
