After ten different placements and 8 years in foster care, Debra understands the importance of youth voice in reforming the system. “Foster kids and former foster children are the people who know exactly what needs improving upon in the foster care system because they are the ones who witnessed it first hand.” Debra has demonstrated her leadership skills by volunteering at local facility, making connections with youth through tutoring and recreational activities. She is also a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the National Honor Roll Society. Debra is currently enrolled in college and wants to eventually obtain her Masters of Social Work. In her free time Debra really enjoys taking pictures of the scenic views and abundant wildlife in Alaska, as well as playing with her puppy named Faith.
