“Many youth do not have the resources, motivation, or educational background to attend college. Through my heavy involvement in California, I have shown other foster youth that chasing your dreams is possible, and there will be someone out there that supports you.”
Brandy is heavily involved with foster youth programs on her college campus - including NextUp, ReadyToSucceed, and Guardian Scholars. She also works with Just in Time for Foster Youth, the Children's Bureau, & National Center for Youth Law. Brandy was a 2022 FosterClub AllStar and will be serving as a coach for the class of 2023.
Brandy is getting ready to graduate with an Associate’s degree in studio arts, and plans to transfer to begin her Bachelor’s degree in Social Practice Art, which combines art with social justice issues. She has presented artwork that depicts foster youth, Latinx, and LGBTQ+ issues in galleries.
One of Brandy’s dreams is to one day start or work with a non-profit that gives non-violent prisoners pets that are at risk for being killed in shelters. Brandy has 5 pets herself, and knows how mutually beneficial having pets can be for people in stressful situations.
