Ash lives in Waterloo Indiana and has 7 years of off and on foster care experience. She enjoys spending time with her fiancé and their pets including her painfully orange cat Poofball. In her spare time she enjoys reading, and playing computer games. She has a big heart but don’t let that be the only thing you notice. She also has a chaotic streak that takes people by surprise. Ash became interested in this work after attending a local YAB meeting and having the space to speak about her foster care experience. Ash hopes to use what she learns to empower other youth to share their voice to better advocate for themselves. Ash was a leader intern for her local organization for two years as well as starting and leading a workgroup locally and a Jim Casey Fellow. She recently spent 4 days with DCS to work on a holistic assessment to better engage families in care. She also met with local legislators in her state district and briefly talked about care.
