Ana P

She/Her/Hers

20 Years Old

Kentucky

“My experiences have greatly empowered me to serve others living a similar life, and my education will be my ticket to reaching the goal of using my trauma to help others. Early on I made the choice to use my negative experiences to help me change the world. Childhood trauma is an ever-growing public health epidemic and I plan to be part of a solution.”

Ana is working on a Bachelor’s degree in neuropsychology, and plans to go on to complete a PhD in clinical psychology. She is especially interested in the study of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder in children, which is motivated from her own experience of beginning life in a homeless shelter before entering foster care at age 2. Ana’s ultimate career goal is to educate society about the potential impact of childhood trauma.

In 2018, Ana was named to the First Lady of Kentucky's Youth Leadership Council, where she had the opportunity to work with legislators and foster care consultants to help form the Kentucky Foster Care Bill of Rights. She has also been involved in the Kentucky Teen Court Program and was named the Kentucky Hospital Association’s Teen Volunteer of the Year.
