She/her

8 years in care

Alexia entered foster care at age ten after the tragic loss of both parents. Adopted by a family member at eleven, she still had DCF involvement. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Social Work in 2021 and 2023, respectively, and has been working with foster care youth since 2020. Currently, she is an addiction therapist while also working part-time in private practice. Alexia is actively involved in her community as a board director for a nonprofit that advocates for foster care and has received awards for her advocacy efforts. Passionate about making a difference, she believes in the importance of supporting one another. Looking ahead, Alexia aims to pursue a doctoral degree in behavioral health or community work and aspires to become a CEO of an organization dedicated to enhancing services for rural communities in South Florida. Additionally, she wants to continue her role with Champions Empowering Champions, a nonprofit that assists foster care alumni in pursuing higher education.
