She/Her
Aleesha entered foster care at age seven and spent fifteen years in care. Throughout her journey, she experienced various placements. Her experiences ignited a passion for advocating for youth who cannot advocate for themselves. Aleesha has actively participated in conferences, panels, and advisory boards, facilitating group sessions and sharing her story to raise awareness about the challenges faced by foster youth. She recently filmed her first documentary with an organization called AOB and has protested for increased college funding for foster youth. As a determined and ambitious individual, she loves networking and connecting with other foster youth. Aleesha aims to deliver a TED Talk on trauma-informed care. She seeks to further share her story and highlight the issues within the foster care system, ensuring that the voices of those in care are heard and recognized.
