Illinois: Office of the Inspector General (Foster Care Complaints)
About this resource
The Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or the Ombudsman's office responds to and investigates complaints filed by the state and local judiciary, foster parents, biological parents, and the general public, including foster youth.
The Office of the Inspector General (OIG) works to keep kids safe and make the child welfare system better. They look into problems, fix mistakes, and help workers do their jobs the right way. Their main focus is making life better for each child.
The OIG listens to complaints from judges, foster parents, birth parents, and other people. If they get a lot of complaints about the same issue, or if the director asks, they will look into that part of the system more closely. They make suggestions to fix problems and improve how things work. Then, they check to make sure those changes are being made.
