Foster Youth to Independence (FYI) Housing Vouchers

About this resource

A federal housing program (through U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development) that helps young people from foster care pay rent and stay housed.

  • Pays a portion of rent (you usually pay ~30% of your income) 
  • Lasts up to 36 months (3 years) 
  • Comes with support services (life skills, case management)


 

Who can use this resource (eligibility)?

 

  • Age 18–24
  • Left foster care at 16+ (or exiting soon)
  • Low income (under 30% median income)
  • Experiencing or at risk of homelessness
