Florida: Foster Rights and Expectations

About this resource

The state of Florida has outlined the rights of all children in foster care, designed to ensure your safety, well-being, and dignity while you are in care including the right to be protected, nurtured, and supported in your health, development, and dignity.

This includes the rights and the laws that protect youth under the U.S. Constitution, the Florida Constitution, and state law-depending on your age. These rights apply to all children and youth placed in out-of-home care, including with caregivers or in group homes.
