The day has come where we have to say goodbye to the first batch of Session B All Stars and it hurts. The friendships we’ve formed. The family, the things we’ve all been through….together. That will always be with us. Forever. Knowing full well that we are all connected in a special way. This whole internship has not only taught me how to be an advocate for foster youth, but about family, hardships, trust, loyalty, love and more. It’s been one heck of a ride but let me tell you. IT’S BEEN WORTH IT! The friendships I’ve made. Those I now call family. The late night talks and card games. The family dinners and arguing over who didn’t do their dishes. The family drama and yelling and smiles and laughter. The beach, the water, the sand, the tans and sunburns, the bonfires and tears and just hanging around. All the hugs, clothes swapping, doctors, sickness and going out to eat. I wouldn’t take any of it back because that’s made us who we are today. I know I am taking so much out of this internship and not just facts. I’m taking home family. I’m taking home new found strengths and dreams and aspirations. I’m taking home new things I’ve found out about me whether it be good or bad. I’m bringing home a whole new outlook on life and realizing I’m not as alone as I thought I was. This internship brought me closer to others, closer to myself and made me realize that I don’t have to be all alone. There are people there for me. THANK YOU to everyone. The tears are of sorrow, but of joy and knowing we shall see each other again and beginning the new step of our lives. Just know full well that if you ever need anything I’m here. Just a phone call and a drive away. My new found family. Staff, L2’s and all. My life has changed…for the better. And that’s with the help of you. I want to thank you for everything. I love you all so much and safe Journey for those who have left today.
