Jess's First Blog

Being a foster youth isn't easy and I know that for a fact. I used to be one. Actually, to be honest I still consider myself as one.

I am not meaning it in a negative way... It made me who I am today and I am proud of what I have accomplished.

Being a foster youth helped me see the real world and it helped me create my hopes and dreams of making this world a better place for foster youth. After realizing that I wanted to make the world a better place, I decided to apply for an internship with FosterClub.

I am so glad I did, because I was selected for my state. This experience has been absolutely amazing. I have been taught several things and and I can't wait to bring it all back to Iowa. You are probably all wondering what I did.

My co-workers and I have been listening to other youths to understand what we can do to to change the foster care system for the better. We are advocators for the foster youths in the system presently. I am so honored that I have been able to teach and connect with other foster youths.

In the next blog, I will describe my time at FosterClub and I hope you'll enjoy it.
