FosterClub would like to thank Senator Ron Wyden for consistently taking time to listen and engage with youth to discover what can be changed in the foster care system! He is looking forward to supporting the youth informed implementation of #familyfirst!

The Family First Prevention Services Act was signed into law as part of the Bipartisan Budget Act on February 9, 2018.  The bill aims to prevent children from entering foster care by allowing federal reimbursement for mental health services, substance use treatment, and in-home parenting skill training. It also seeks to improve the well-being of children already in foster by incentivizing states to reduce placement of children in congregate care.

Senator Wyden met with the 2018 All Stars at FosterClub Headquarters where he listened to each and every youth. FosterClub's All Stars shared their gratitude for Senator Wyden's work on Family First and gave insight into changes youth who have experienced care would like to see. Wyden shared the history of the important legislation. All Stars expressed hope for a better future thanks to Family First!
