Give Your Birthday a Bigger Purpose

Raise funds. Spread joy. Support young people in foster care.

On average, youth in foster care spend two birthdays in the system.

For most people, birthdays mean cake, laughter, and feeling celebrated.

But for many young people in foster care, birthdays can feel…invisible.

Many tell us those days came and went with no cards.  No presents.  Sometimes, no one even said “happy birthday.”

One young person shared she can’t remember a single birthday from her time in foster care.

That shouldn’t be normal.

“A birthday is supposed to be a celebratory day...but not when I was in foster care...Birthdays seemed to be more of a burden on the families I lived with.”

— Lupe, FosterClub member, Arizona

This year, you can change that—by pledging your birthday.

Sign up to pledge your birthday to the 500,000+ young people who will experience foster care this year.

When you pledge your birthday to FosterClub, you’re helping young people in foster care feel seen, valued, and connected–not just on their birthday, but all year long.

Send us your mailing address and we’ll mail you a Birthday Buddy sticker as a thank-you!

What Does It Mean to Pledge Your Birthday?

It’s simple.  And powerful.

You choose to either:

  • Fundraise for your birthday, inviting friends and family to donate to FosterClub
    or
  • Make a birthday donation, turning your celebration into direct support for youth in the system

Whichever you choose, your birthday becomes a reason for young people to feel less alone–and more connected to a community that understands.

How It Works:

(We've got you every step of the way.)

  1. Fill out the form above
(It just takes a few seconds.)

  2. Check your email
We've got you covered.  You'll receive an email from us with everything you need to launch your fundraiser, whether it’s in-person or on social media.

  3. Celebrate + share
On (or before!) your birthday, let people know they can support your fundraiser.  Post it.  Text it.  Email it.  Tell folks in person.  Snail mail if you’re feeling fancy.  Every share helps young people in foster care.

  4. Feel the joy
Your birthday will feel different–because you used it to show up for young people who deserve to be celebrated, too.

Cake is great.  This choice?  Even better.

Thank you for thinking about young people in foster care on your birthday.  That's a gift that helps young people feel celebrated—just like they should.

Meet the Young People You’ll Impact

Your birthday pledge supports FosterClub programs that are built by and for young people with lived experience in foster care.  That means:

  • Youth-led community and connection
  • Honest storytelling and peer support
  • Reminding young people–on their birthdays and every day–that they are not alone

When you pledge your birthday, you're not just fundraising or donating.  You're helping build belonging.
