Samanthya Amann is President of InSight Youth Advisory Board in Iowa. She must be especially proud of winning this award because it was her closest collaborator who nominated her, InSight YAB Vice President. It is often a power struggle for two leaders to grasp an award like the FosterClub Outstanding Young Leader Award, but it goes to show that Samanthya is first and foremost a humble leader. As her VP states, “She lets everyone have a voice, always prepared and up to date with new and changing information, and is very passionate about the board and its mission.” Her passion has paid off on Capital Hill. Senator Chuck Grassley presented her with the Iowa Youth Leadership Award in 2010. Ms. Amann has also been invited to speak at an event with Sen. Grassley and Samanthya enjoys speaking at other engagements and legislative events. The skills and connections she is making today will surely allow her to reach her goal of being an advocate for youth in foster care. Equally rewarding for Samanthya is her time she spends serving meals to the homeless in downtown Des Moines and other random and simple acts of kindness to those in need. Samanthya understands what a helping hand can do and how kindness can change a life. Being invited by her foster family to gatherings, football games, and family vacations were some of the most memorable. Currently enrolled in college studying political science and public relations, Samantha is considering Law School in the future.
