Kassandra Dean spent 11 years in Arizona's Foster Care System.

Kassandra Dean is currently pursuing a major in Education. On top of school, Kassandra works part time and dedicates much of her time to volunteer work benefiting foster youth in her community. She has helped MyLife, an advocacy group in her area recruit new members and raise awareness by assisting in planning and speaking at MyFest; an event with over 3,000 foster care stakeholders in attendance. She was a brave voice when MyLife spoke to legislators regarding foster care policies in her state. An adult supporter in Kassandra’s life remarks, “Kassy quickly emerged as one of the key leaders of the (advocacy) group, displaying excellent teamwork and leadership skills, as she helps youth on both micro and macro levels.” Her leadership has received recognition as a Jan Lindsey Award Recipient, an honor granted through the Friends of Foster Care Foundation. This award recognizes youth who have overcame many obstacles and went on to be successful. As Kassandra’s success continues, I know she will continue to offer a thoughtful and empathetic voice for the next generation.
