South Carolina Independent Living Program

About this resource

South Carolina’s Independent Living Services, funded through the Chafee Program, help youth and young adults who have experienced foster care prepare for adulthood. Services include support with education, employment, housing, transportation, and life skills. You may be able to get help with things like college application fees, tutoring, job training, driver’s ed, rental deposits, and more.

To apply, talk with your DSS case manager about what you need. They will help complete the required form and submit your request. Be sure to check out the Pathways to Success Chafee and ETV Program Booklet for a full list of available services.
