Emergency support

Pandemic Relief - Iowa

About this resource

The recent Consolidated Appropriations Act set aside emergency relief for young people with foster care experience who are struggling because of the Pandemic. Each state is able to decide how the funds will be applied to the youth in their care.

In Iowa, there is leftover Pandemic Relief available to current/former foster youth.

Stimulus-type payments have been extended for young adults ages 18 to 22 through June 30, 2022. Youth and young adults who left foster care or other court-ordered placements after age 17.5 may be eligible for a direct one-time pandemic relief payment of $750.  Eligibility will be verified by DHS.
