About this resource

Ombudsman is a Swedish word that means "representative" or "agent." Ombudsman were established within states and/or Child Welfare to investigate complaints, concerns, or violations of children right's while in foster care.

When filing a complaint or inquiry in Connecticut, the Department will do its best to investigate and try to find or bring a solution for the best interest of the youth(s) by: 

Investigate your concerns
Mediate and act as a liaison between all involved parties
Speak or advocate on your behalf
Arrange case conferences when necessary
Answer questions about your inquiry or complaint
Search for a resolution for disputes not resolved at the staffing level
Provide information about procedures and policies 
Provide prompt attention

To tell someone your concern or complaint, simply call the Ombudsman office and tell them! Or if you prefer, you can write it out and email, or physically mail it to the Office at the address below. Don't forget to add a good contact number or email so they can get back in contact!
