Tuition Waivers for Foster Youth in New Hampshire

The University System of New Hampshire and the Community College System of New Hampshire work with the state’s Division of Children, Youth and Families to help eligible students go to college for free.

Each year, they offer up to 10 tuition waivers to students who qualify. These waivers can help pay for certificates, associate degrees, or bachelor’s degrees.

Who can use this resource (eligibility)?

You must be under 23 years old by May 1 of the year you apply and meet one of these:

  • In foster care in New Hampshire for the 6 months before your 18th birthday

  • In guardianship or custody in New Hampshire on your 18th birthday

  • Adopted from New Hampshire foster care or guardianship after parental rights were ended

  • In an out-of-home placement supervised by the juvenile justice division on your 17th birthday

You also need to apply for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to qualify.
