The L Word

Love and relationships in general can be pretty difficult to figure out in themselves but when you throw in a background of a crazy past, it takes things to a completely different level.
With the experience of being in foster care once you find that special person often times our expectations tend to be higher and without even taking notice of it we expect them to fill this void in our lives. In a play by Tyler Perry that I watched recently titled "Madea's Big Happy Family", the character Madea made a statement that touched home and it went like this,

“Every woman is a little girl at heart, and she is looking for the love of her father. If she had an awful daddy that did not treat her right, she doesn’t know what it’s like to have the love of a man. If you are brave enough, and man enough, to love that woman, she will come back at you with a love you ain’t never seen before in your life.”

I felt that I could relate to this quote from beginning to end. And over the years I have had my share of past relationships that each taught me something along the way. One lesson that I learned was that love is respect and it is an action word. It's the little things that count the most. Love can be a complex emotion to understand and to a certain extent I'm not quite sure anyone has fully mastered a total understanding of how powerful it is. I could write page upon page of the lessons that I have learned when it comes to love but I won't...at least not tonight.lol. I will admit that I am extremely happy though because I finally know what it is to have true love and I have it..I found it in someone who if you told me 6 years ago things would end up this way I would not believe you. It's funny how things work out. Later world! :-)
