The 5th Annual Congressional Foster Youth Shadow Program has commenced in Washington, D.C. Over the next couple days, 100 foster youth from around the nation will participate in education, advocacy and relationship building with the goal of improving and strengthening the child welfare system across the United States.

On Wednesday, May 25th; the foster youth will be shadowing Members of Congress to share their personal stories and foster care experiences, and to discuss ways to improve the child welfare system in their state.

The foster youth will also participate in a special White House event on Tuesday, May 24th where they will hear from administration leaders on why advocacy by foster youth on the local, state and national levels is critical to affecting the decisions made by elected officials and policy leaders on their behalf.
