Washington, D.C., Feb. 16, 2024 – In a remarkable display of compassion and commitment, Alpha Xi Delta has raised over $125,000 for FosterClub since their partnership’s inception. This outstanding achievement is the result of the collective efforts of more than 30 chapters and associations nationwide, showcasing the women’s fraternity’s dedication to positively impacting the lives of youth in and from foster care.

Alpha Xi Delta announced the Kindly Hearts Initiative, its new philanthropic focus on supporting children and youth experiencing foster care or homelessness, in 2022. FosterClub, the national network for young people in foster care, is one of two national charities to benefit from the initiative.

The top fundraising chapters of the fraternity that boasts 162,000 initiated members and 128 collegiate chapters deserve special recognition for their exceptional efforts. To date, Beta Pi at Indiana University has raised over $19,600, Phi at Albion College has raised over $9,800, and Gamma Beta at Marshall University has raised over $8,200.

Alpha Xi Delta chapters and associations host various fundraising events, including Xingo bingo night, Football Frenxi, Blue & Gold Gala, Xiti with the Xis pasta feed, and Battle of Xi Bands, which have significantly contributed to the overall total. Alpha Xi Delta members also participate in the Letters of Love national letter-writing campaign, sharing their personal stories of why they choose to support and make a meaningful impact on the lives of children and young adults who have experienced foster care.

In addition to monetary donations, Delta Zeta at Long Island University-Post and Theta Chi at the University of Toledo contributed handmade friendship bracelets with encouraging notes. FosterClub will deliver the bracelets and notes to children and youth in foster care to remind them they’re not alone.

The Northern Virginia Alumni Association, as the first alumni association to fundraise for FosterClub, set a shining example of post-collegiate engagement last year. Through a Facebook fundraiser, the association proved the enduring devotion of Alpha Xi Delta members to philanthropy and community service.

“FosterClub is eternally grateful for the dedication of Alpha Xi Delta’s sisters,” said Celeste Bodner, Executive Director of FosterClub. “Alpha Xi Delta continues to demonstrate its unwavering commitment to bettering the lives of children and teens experiencing foster care.”

FosterClub is the national network for young people in foster care, leading efforts to connect, educate, inspire, and represent youth in and from care. The organization aims to realize the potential of these young individuals and empower them to improve the lives of their peers through system change and direct service. At the FosterClub website, young people discover other successful former foster youth, share opinions about their foster care experiences, get recognition for overcoming obstacles, and connect with supportive adults.
