Arizona: Former Foster Youth- Help with Housing from HUD

About this resource

If you aged out of foster care, you might be able to get a voucher to help with your rent. A voucher is like a coupon to discount your rent. See the details below to decide if you are eligible.

Eligibility

  • Current or former foster youth
  • Age 18-24, or 90 days prior to exiting foster care
  • Housing Situation: Without housing (homeless or couch-surfing) or at risk for homelessness (i.e., received eviction notice)

Instructions:

1. Tell your caseworker or Chafee Independent Living Program (ILP) worker that you would like to get housing support through the FYI/FUP program

2. If you don’t have a caseworker or ILP worker, try connecting with your last known caseworker.

3. If your worker doesn’t know about the FYI/FUP program, show them the FYI/TPV one-pager link, Click Here.

Note: You can always reach out to your PHA ( Public Housing Authority) to get information on FYI/FUP vouchers in your area. Your local Public Housing Authority usually only provides either FYI or FUP vouchers so they will ask which one you may qualify for.
