Board Member; Northern Virginia Family Services: foster care home study social worker and trainer.

Phyllis has over 25 years of child welfare experience working in foster care and adoption in both the public and private sector. She worked on several U.S. adoption opportunities grants including a program in Chicago that found families for children affected by HIV/AIDS, and another, in Virginia, that provided permanency mediation between birth and foster/adoptive parents.  Phyllis served as the Adoption Program Manager at the Child Welfare Information Gateway (formerly the National Adoption Information Clearinghouse) from 2002 – 2015.   She currently works as the Family Services Supervisor at Georgia Avenue Family Support Collaborative in DC supporting birth families whose children are at risk of coming into foster care. She sometimes meets former foster youth who are homeless and turns them on to FosterClub.
