FosterClub is looking for a new team member. Do you have Youth Outreach & Leadership skills?

As a member of our small but growing team, you will play an integral part in our organization.  Reporting to and in partnership with the Executive Director, the Youth Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for outreach to youth within the FosterClub network by managing the Children Now grant, as well as supporting the Oregon Youth Outreach Coordinator and the Stuart Scholars in California.  This position will be focused managing the grant cycle of both projects through development, implementation and reporting.  The Youth Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for carrying out the activities and outreach through the various projects and grants above.

Contractual Terms

  • o    Position:               permanent
    o    Salary:                  $23,000 - $25,000
    o    Working Hours:    Full time 40 hours per week
    o    Location:              Seaside, Oregon
    o    Travel:                  May include travel to implementation sites
    o    Probation:             6 months
    o    Leave:                  15 days per year (pro-rated to start date) (in addition to FosterClub holidays) increasing with length of service

  • •    Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
    •    Written Communication skills - email, business correspondence, note-taking. Would be great if candidate had strong writing skills, too, to develop youth stories or put together an eNewsletter.
    •    Verbal Communication skills - Must enjoy working with young people -  phone calls, customer services.
    •    Presentation Skills - Experience or interest in speaking in front of people, including presenting workshops or staffing an exhibit booth
    •    Strong experience using Social Media, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram. Also should have experience with Google searches, email, Google docs.
    •    Data Entry - good typing skills, including entering information into a screen or onto an excel spreadsheet
    •    Some experience with grant management, including planning, implementing, and reporting functions.
    •    Skilled at performing multiple tasks simultaneously. 
    •    Strong organizational ability.
    •    Candidate should be very self-motivated and able to work independently and take initiative.
    •    A proactive professional who can work with minimal supervision and in a team, elevate issues as needed, and overcome challenges.  
    •    Experience, interest and aptitude to work with young people

Desirable

  • •    First-hand experience with foster care, such as an alumni of the system.
    •    Bachelor’s Degree in related field
    •    1 year of experience working in related area such as child welfare.
    •    Experience with the youth outreach
    •    Positive youth development experience and understanding of youth adult partnerships.
    •    Experience with using new technology, including Facebook, IM, blogging sites, etc.
    •    Previous work in the area of education for at-risk populations/with foster children or youth.
    •    A candidate who is passionate about our cause.
    •    An understanding and interest in overcoming the challenges facing youth in care
