We would like to announce the 2016 California Youth Ambassadors! These 11 young adults experienced foster care in the state of California. As Youth Ambassadors, they help transform the way policymakers, child welfare professionals and educators view and prioritize education for foster youth.

The 2016 California Youth Ambassadors have began engaging in activities focusing on closing the education gap for foster youth in both K-12 and higher education, in collaboration with the Education Equals Partnership and California College Pathways. The team will leverage their personal experiences to connect, educate, represent and inspire their peers and stakeholders.

Meet the 2016 California Youth Ambassadors:

In the upcoming year, FosterClub and the Youth Ambassadors will be working to train and support more young leaders, growing the capacity of the Education Equals counties to engage young people, building on the success of Youth Ambassador involvement in policy and reaching an even broader base of foster youth. The Education Equals/FosterClub collaboration provides a powerful platform to engage young people in system reform, but also serves as a catalyst to help California’s young leaders build capacity and secure their own success.
