The 2014-15 group of Ambassadors are former foster youth from all over California. They are pursing education, ranging from early higher education to Doctorate degrees!

Over the course of the next year, the 2014-15 California Youth Ambassadors will serve locally in their counties on various committees, boards, events, and more.. all working towards ensuring today’s foster youth have every equal opportunity to pursue their educational dreams. Ambassadors are involved on a statewide level, working closely with California Education Equals Partnership and California College Pathways to infiltrate and compliment programs and opportunities already in-place.

The 2014-15 California Youth Ambassadors are working towards making it possible for California foster youth to have a fair and equal chance at education. Only about 45% of California’s foster youth graduate high school. Even less go onto post-secondary education. Our Youth Ambassadors know that education is the key to many opportunities and will do what it takes to make sure their fellow foster youth and alumni know this too!

FosterIng Art: Mark Bradford's Art + Practice

Art + Practice engages the community with art exhibits featuring high-end contemporary art. Social services and resources for youth in L.A.'s foster care system are also created through Art + Practice.

Mark Bradford is an artist and co-founder of Art + Practice.  The work they are doing is inspiring. With L.A. County representing a large number of foster youth, Mark’s efforts are much needed.

A new beginning...
HI! I'm Jenn. I am a Youth Ambassador from Orange County. I was only in foster care for a little less than two years I grew up on Los Angeles County, moved to San Bernardino County, and now to Orange County. I am also a member of the California Youth Connection, now with the Orange Chapter. I am here to make a difference, not for myself, but for those that come after me. I want to help make sure that kids feel safe, secure, and most importantly, loved. There is no better feeling than feeling loved.

California Youth Ambassadors, please read this September 2014 California College Pathways: YouthSpeak Blog.

We asked California Scholars: "When you were in high school, did you know other foster youth who had a goal of attending college? Or - once in college -- did you connect with foster care alumni? What role does this type of peer support play in your educational success?"
