Every journey begins with a single step-a giant leap into the unknown. For me, that first step has always been the hardest. This week, I am starting a new journey as a FosterClub All-Star. For the next few days, I will be working at the Oregon Teen Conference. I will have the amazing opportunity to teach workshops, facilitate discussions about foster care, and learn from my peers. While I am thrilled to begin this new chapter in my life, I must admit that I am a tad bit petrified. Even though I am prepared and capable to take on this challenge, it still is just that-a challenge. And with any challenge, there is a chance for failure. This is the single biggest reason I hesitate to take giant leaps into the unknown. Fear. But the things we fear doing the most are usually the most important. Sometimes we will fail but more often than not we will soar. In one week I can do just that-overcome my fear and soar.
